You decided to build a website to show off your portfolio. Only problem is, you’re not exactly sure how to build one. Heck, you don’t know the first thing about HTML, CSS or any of those other weird acronyms you saw after a quick search on “web design 101.”
Fortunately for you, learning to code isn’t a requirement to building websites. You can just purchase one of the numerous website creation software out there and use that to design your site using a visual editor. Now, there’s a wide range of tools out there for this purpose, with huge gaps in pricing. Which one should you spend on?
Here’s our suggestion: since you’re using the tool to build one site, don’t splurge. Don’t even look at anything that costs over $100. There are many good site creation programs, some of them educational versions, that cost under $50.
You can also look into browser-based web design tools, which are usually available on a subscription basis. If you’re only going to use the tool one-time, then pay it for a month (usually $9.99) and cancel once you’re done. However, should you need to regularly update the site using the software, you may want to stick to desktop versions as the “small” monthly costs can easily add up.
